Yale Introduces Lift Truck Designed for Maximum Maneuverability and Advanced Dynamic Stability
Yale Materials Handling Corporation has announced a new addition to its high-capacity range of lift trucks, specifically designed to maximize maneuverability in dense storage configurations. Available in 15,500 and 17,000-pound capacities, the Yale® GP155-170SVX ICE pneumatic tire forklift offers a shorter counterweight, turn assist system, optimized forward visibility and a rearview display to optimize control in confined, congested spaces.
Enhanced Maneuverability in Dense Environments
“From seasonal stockpiling to soaring inventories, space is at a premium – especially as rising commercial real estate costs make expansion and new construction prohibitively expensive,” says John Santiago, Director, Counterbalance Product Planning and Solutions, Yale Materials Handling Corporation. Instead, operations can adopt a more cost-effective solution to get the storage capacity they need – optimizing existing space with an efficient, dense layout. This truck equips operators for success in those environments, with the best maneuverability among class leaders.
The following technical highlights define the new GP155-170SVX:
- Shortened counterweight design: This enables a more compact truck, reducing overall length by up to 12.8 inches, to help improve maneuverability through tight spaces while maintaining residual capacity.
- Turn assist system: At maximum steering angles, turn assist applies the brake to the inside drive tire for a tighter turning radius regardless of load weight or road surface conditions.
- Optimized visibility: A new standard mast design provides operators with a significant front field of view, helping optimize visibility of forks and load.
- Rearview technology: The rear view display includes an Optional rear-facing camera with LCD display that offers a 118-degree range of vision to help operators monitor the rear of the truck.

Advanced Dynamic Stability (ADS) Standalone Offering
Yale Lift Truck Technologies has announced the availability of its advanced dynamic stability (ADS) offering as a standalone option. ADS is one of the key technologies in the company’s Yale Reliant™ forklift operator assist solution. The technology is designed to maintain overall stability and reduce the potential for forklift tip-overs. Adjustments are carefully measured to avoid abrupt shifts or jerks that can upset stability. ADS continuously monitors forklift and load status and automatically applies interventions in response to compromised stability.
Previously, ADS was only available in packaged solutions with one or more of the other Yale Reliant technologies, including object detection, proximity detection, and real-time location sensing. However, warehouse lift trucks can now be equipped with ADS as an independent option. It is available on a wide range of Yale models and was the main focus of the demonstrations at Yale’s MODEX exhibition.
Improving Safety for an Expanding Workforce
Warehouse workforces have more than doubled in just a decade, surging from 668,900 employees in 2011 to more than 1.7 million in 2021, according to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). Many warehouses have relied heavily on inexperienced forklift operators as a coping mechanism, but that practice has exacerbated common safety and productivity challenges.
Joe Koch, Emerging Technology Sales Manager at Yale Lift Truck Technologies, said, “Forklift operator assist solutions are a vital step that warehouses can take to support inexperienced operators and help reduce the risk of accidents.” With the standalone ADS option, operations with needs that may not warrant an investment in the detection or infrastructure required for other technologies in the Yale Reliant suite can now benefit from a more affordable and accessible solution.
