Comprehensive Guide to UPS Delivery, Tracking, and Fulfillment Services
UPS typically starts delivering around 9:00am and stops delivering around 8:00 pm. Afternoon is the busiest time for UPS, so delivery times may vary depending on when your package is picked up and processed. This means that if you have a package that needs to be delivered by the end of the day, you should plan on it being picked up no later than 5:00 pm.
UPS Delivery Schedules and Windows
To ensure that your package arrives on time, it is best to check the tracking information and estimated delivery date before placing your order. This way, you can plan ahead and make sure that your package will arrive when you need it. For UPS weekend delivery, if you are expecting a package on Saturday, UPS will deliver it in the same time window. On Sunday, there is no UPS delivery except for residential packages in certain metropolitan areas, so your package will most likely not arrive until Monday. Understanding UPS Tracking Statuses
If you haven't seen an update in your tracking recently, you don't need to worry yet. Your package is still in the UPS network and will most likely be delivered at your expected delivery date. Once your package has reached the final facility prior to being delivered, you will see an update in the tracking. Common tracking statuses include:
- Label Created: The shipping label has been printed. This does not indicate pickup by UPS.
- On the Way: The package has been picked up and received at UPS' facility.
- Transferred to Post Office for Delivery: If you are seeing this status, your product is being shipped using UPS SurePost. UPS SurePost is a team effort between UPS and USPS where USPS does the last mile delivery. You should expect an additional day or two before your item is delivered.
- Out for Delivery: The package is on a truck and out for delivery. You should get your package on the day it says this.
- Delivered to a UPS Access Point: Your package has been delivered to a pre-selected UPS Access Point location and can be picked up at the recipient's convenience.
Handling Shipment Exceptions
Occasionally, you may get a notification saying that your shipment has experienced an exception. What does "Your Shipment Has Experienced an Exception" Mean? All this means is there may be a delay in the original delivery date for your shipment. This happens most frequently if an address adjustment is needed, if there was damage to the shipment, or if there was no signature received to allow for delivery of the shipment. If you were the one who scheduled the shipment, you can log in to your UPS account and manage changes for the delivery. If you were supposed to received the package, you should contact the company you ordered from to have the exception fixed.
Advanced Tracking with Follow My Delivery
