DP World Unveils Electric Freight Fleet and Smart Logistics Solutions
DP World, in collaboration with Einride, has launched a cutting-edge electric freight solution at Jebel Ali Port, aiming to move over 204,000 TEUs annually. Now running around the clock, the first wave of the electric fleet is set to move over 204,000 twenty-foot containers annually, supporting DP World’s efforts to accelerate the transition to greener logistics. This project is part of a partnership between DP World and Einride signed in May 2024 to electrify inter-terminal container flows at Jebel Ali Port, the largest seaport in the Middle East.
Driving Sustainable Logistics
The partnership aligns with DP World’s broader sustainability agenda, which includes electrifying its fleet of internal terminal vehicles (ITVs) and implementing innovative partnerships to reduce emissions. The initiative will reduce 14,600 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) annually compared to diesel operations, supporting DP World’s science-based targets (SBTi) and ambition to make global trade smarter and greener. Abdulla Bin Damithan, CEO and Managing Director of DP World GCC, said, “Decarbonising logistics is a core priority for DP World. We are actively electrifying our operations, integrating AI-powered solutions, and working closely with our partners like Einride to support our net zero goals.”
Electric Autonomous Freight Mobility
The electric fleet is being deployed as part of a multi-phased rollout, which integrates Einride’s full platform, including electric vehicles, charging infrastructure, and the AI-driven Einride Saga operating system. A second wave will follow later this year, and the full fleet in 2026 will be capable of moving 2 million twenty-foot containers annually. This tiered deployment uses Einride’s data-driven analysis to optimise cost and operational efficiency while laying the groundwork for future autonomous deployment.
| Metric / Initiative | Data Point |

Innovative Sustainable Fleet in South Africa
DP World has added five Smart Trucks to our Ardagh Glass Packaging–Africa fleet, following the exceptional performance of the first proof of concept unit. Vehicles adhering to the Performance Based Standards (PBS) framework utilise innovative designs to enhance payload capacity, safety, efficiency, and environmental performance through less impact on road infrastructure. The customized PBS vehicles for Ardagh feature a two-semi-trailer combination specifically designed to transport glass pallets. They are also kitted out with dual-fuel technology making use of diesel and compressed natural gas (CNG) which is expected to further reduce carbon emissions.
Digital Transformation and Smart Platforms
Dubai-based global marine terminal operator, DP World, said one of its companies, Dubai Trade, has launched an integrated smart online platform that connects supply chain stakeholders over a secure network to ensure ease of doing business. Dubai Trade last year added “LogiGate” to its portfolio of innovations, which stands as a transportation and warehousing marketplace that enables cargo owners to book competitive haulage and storage services using a smart phone. The portal also recorded 19 million transactions during the year, while doubling e-payment transactions on its secured ePayment gateway “Rosoom” to 2.3 million.
In its pursuit of operational excellence, DP World decided to implement Oracle WMS Cloud to harmonize their operations further and benefit from an integrated TMS/WMS. Integrating FlexiPro for Oracle WMS Cloud yielded significant improvements in DP World’s warehouse operations, resulting in streamlined processes and enhanced inventory transaction speed on a day-to-day basis. As DP World continues to spearhead innovation, its journey from a single port in Dubai to a global logistics giant is a testament to its unwavering dedication to technological advancement.
